Golf FInishes 11th at 45th Schenkel Invitational

STATESBORO, Ga. – The Army West Point golf team concluded the 45th Schenkel Invitational in 11th after the final round on Sunday at Forest Heights Country Club.
The Black Knights finished the second day with a team score of 291 (+3) to give them a three-day total of 893 (+29). Army improved each day and jumped up three spots on the final leaderboard. Utah won the team title going 11-under as a team on Sunday and beat out Florida by one streak at 22-under for the tournament. Florida's Luke Poulter led the Schenkel Invitational throughout and outlasted teammate Ian Gilligan to win the individual title.
TOURNAMENT NOTES
• Tyson Sparks, who was playing as an individual, had Army's lowest score on Sunday with a 1-under par 71.
• He had a stretch of five birdies in seven holes in his last round.
• John Heckel Jr. and Drew Jeffords each carded an even par 72 in their final round.
• Heckel Jr. was second among army golfers during the three-day event at 5-over.
• Dragon Theam finished 2-over par on Sunday and finished in a tie for 38th on the leaderboard at 4-over for the tournament.
The Black Knights return to the course on April 8 for the annual Bush Cup match. Army will take on N.C. State at Old Chatham Golf Club in Durham, N.C.
