Women’s Basketball Picks Up a Win to End Regular Season as Postseason Looms

WORCESTER, Mass. – The Army West Point women's basketball team (22-6, 14-4) won the Patriot League regular-season finale on Wednesday night defeating the Holy Cross Crusaders (18-11, 11-7), 64-46.
Senor Trinity Hardy scored a game-high 21 points, knocking down 3-4 from long distance, while also grabbing 10 rebounds, securing her third double-double of the season.
Sophomore Fiona Hastick added 17 points and three threes of her own to pace the Army scoring attack.
Army got off to a sluggish start, shooting 1-11 from the floor through the first six minutes of action in the first quarter, as Holy Cross led 7-2.
After the poor 1-11 start, the Black Knights shoot 50.0% (12-24) from the field over the final 13 minutes of the half to control the game and take an eight-point lead into halftime.
Hastick had 13 points leading the scoring at the break.
Both teams struggled to score in the third with several-minute scoring draught on both sides. As play progressed Hardy caught fire for the Black Knights knocking down three triples in the period as Army pushed its lead to 14 points entering the fourth quarter. In the fourth, Army scored 17 points, most of any quarter in the game to hang on for an 18-point victory.
With the victory, Army has secured its most wins (22) since the 2016-17 season and did not lose back-to-back games once all season.
Next up, Army, the No. 2 seed in the Patriot League Championship will host a quarterfinal game on Monday, March 10 at Christl Arena with tip-off slated for 6pm. Army will play the winner of the No. 7 vs. No. 10 game on Monday night which will take place on Saturday, March 8.
