Men’s Rugby Travels to Life University for Quarterfinal Bout
April 11, 2025 | Men's Rugby
MARIETTA, Ga. – Army West Point Men's Rugby travels to Georgia for the CRAA Quarterfinals Saturday, facing top-seeded Life University.
Kickoff Saturday is set for 1:00 p.m. at Lupo Family Field. FloRugby will stream the match.
Coming off a 25-13 win over Mount St. Mary's in the opening round of the postseason, the Black Knights look to extend their season an additional week.
The Running Eagles have compiled a 12-1 record to date across the 2024-25 season, including a 23-20 win at Navy October 19 and a 92-7 victory over Davenport in last week's postseason opener.
The sides last met April 6 a season ago in Marietta, a 24-17 win for Life in last year's playoffs first round.
Saturday's winner will advance to the CRAA semifinals April 19, against the winner of Navy and Lindenwood.
Coach's Corner
"We've been grateful to have earned another week together after last weekend playoff win. We face a daunting challenge this weekend in a very strong opponent, but our focus continues to be internal, on climbing to a new best. We believe if we continue that trajectory, we are a very capable and tough team," said head coach Matt Sherman.
Cadet's Corner
"Going on the road against the No. 1-seeded team might be the hardest challenge we have faced. But our team has the drive and the confidence to extend our season seven more days," said Howard Heller.
"Big challenge ahead on Saturday. We are ready for a fight, but we are going to continue keeping our focus on reaching our new best," said Luke Leech.
"Life is a very good team, but I'm confident in our ability to suffocate the game and be physically dominant for the full 80 minutes. I believe that our best will be required to win, but we're ecstatic at the opportunity to bring that," said Matt Leslie.
"Excited to get back on the pitch and face Life University this weekend. We got knocked out of the playoffs last year by them and we are looking to return the favor. The game is going to be a great one. Go Army!," said Gabe Savage.
