Track and Field Completes Competition at TCNJ Invite & Multi

EWING, N.J. — Army West Point Track and Field turned in a strong slate of performances at the TCNJ Invite & Multi on Saturday, with several cadet athletes notching personal bests and top finishes in a competitive field.
Freshman Levi Ferrell earned top honors in the sprinting events, earning gold in both the 100m (10.93) and 200m (22.24), each a personal best. Ferrell's win in the 100m prelims (10.94) also led all qualifiers.
Freshman Huston Powers added a fifth-place finish in the 200m (22.79), and Ronald White (23.00), Nathaniel Nelson (23.12), and Caleb McGarity (23.31) rounded out a strong sprint group with top-15 performances in a deep field.
In the 400m, sophomore Owen Hoag clocked a 50.93 to place fourth, leading a group that included Powers (51.73) and Nelson (51.78). Guyon Young, Alexander Pasulka, and Evan Newcomer also delivered solid efforts.
Harrison Lavery claimed first in the 800m with a season-best 1:58.65, while freshman John Afari-Akins followed with a fourth-place finish at 2:01.21. The 1500m featured standout efforts from Christian Bachmann (4:06.11) and Brady Smith, who ran a personal best of 4:06.57 to finish seventh.
On the women's side, Chloe Esponda took home the win in the 1500m, finishing in 4:52.37. Teammates Katherine Merritt (4:56.77), Alexandra Volkart (4:58.94), and Lindsay Cook (4:59.40) all broke the five-minute barrier, with five Black Knights placing in the top seven.
In the field events, Christian Bault led the way in the long jump with a fourth-place mark of 6.40m, while Ethan Vess soared to second in the triple jump, landing at 13.77m. Kwame Amoo-Otoo added a fifth-place finish in the same event (12.79m).
Cat Vota turned in one of the top women's field performances, placing third in the discus (38.85m), while Elliot Eddy added strong marks in both discus (33.11m) and shot put (9.68m). Vota also recorded 8.82m in the shot put.
In the throws, Calvin Bowens and Andrew Trottier went 7-10 in the men's discus, while Jayden Miller led Army in the shot put with a throw of 10.81m.
On the hurdles side, Ronald White placed third in the 400m hurdles with a time of 59.17, adding to his busy day that included sprint and relay events.
The rest of the Black Knights will continue competition over the weekend in Lewisburg, Pennsylvania, as they compete in the Bison Outdoor Classic.
