Plunkett, Byrne Tapped for Patriot League Weekly Awards

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – No. 4 Army West Point men's lacrosse (12-1, 7-1 Patriot League) saw two team members earn recognition in the final round of Patriot League men's lacrosse weekly awards for the 2025 season. After a dominant 18-6 win over Loyola Maryland on Friday, Sean Byrne earned his third Goalkeeper of the Week title of the season while Hill Plunkett earned his first Rookie of the Week honors this season.
Byrne was a wall in goal for Army against the Greyhounds, facing down 24 shots and delivering 10 saves with just four goals allowed over his 45 minutes of action.
As the anchor to a strong Army defense, Byrne helped the Black Knights hold Loyola Maryland's leading scorer to just one goal in the contest and to hold the Greyhounds as a team to just one goal allowed in both the first and third quarters.
Byrne's performance improved his overall save percentage to .633 and improved his goals-against average to 6.77, securing his hold on the top spot in the nation in both categories.
Hill Plunkett helped the Black Knights run an overwhelming offense on Friday, dishing out a career-high five assists towards a career-high six points over the Greyhounds.
With Plunkett's help, the Black Knights outscored the Greyhounds 34-11 as Army tallied 18 goals and 12 assists as a team.
Plunkett's performance brings him second on the team in total assists and tied for fourth on the team in total points.
