Women’s Soccer Earns Fourth Straight Win with 90th Minute Goal

NEW BRITAIN, CONN. – Army West Point Women's Soccer earned their fourth straight victory in a 2-1 victory over the Central Connecticut State University Blue Devils (0-3-1). For Army (4-1-0), this marks their second consecutive game with a closing minutes goal to earn the victory.
Seniors Jordan Follenweider and Cami Silvestro scored their first goals of the season, while Follenweider's eventually was the game-winner coming in the 90th minute. The Black Knights earned 10 corner kicks, the most in a game since the 2024 Patriot League Quarterfinals against Navy on Nov. 3, 2024.

The Black Knights will return to West Point, N.Y., on Sunday, Aug. 31 to close out the month of August taking on the Maine Black Bears.

- The Black Knights started quick from the first whistle with a corner kick and three shots all within the first ten minutes of the match
- Army pushed hard in the first half with 10 shots and seven corner kicks in the first half but were unable to find the back of the net going into the halftime.
- Coming out of the half, the Black Knights struck quickly at 49:04 from the foot of senior Cami Silvestro. The Black Knights drew a foul to set up a free kick from right outside the box. Silvestro struck the ball hard off her right foot, that hit under just under the bar behind the diving Blue Devils goalkeeper.
- The Blue Devils did not go away quietly, finding the equalizer late at 86:07, but for the second straight game, the Black Knights struck back.
- At 89:21, in the waning seconds of the match, senior Jordan Follenweider earned the first game-winning goal of her career. Freshman Megan Youngberg lofted a cross across the box from the right side, that found Follenweider who headed it in to give the Black Knights the 2-1 victory.
The Black Knights will return to West Point, N.Y., on Sunday, Aug. 31 to close out the month of August taking on the Maine Black Bears.
