Golf Takes Four-Ball Lead during Army-Navy Star Match

WEST POINT, N.Y. – The Army West Point golf team earned a 2.5-1.5 advantage over Navy following the opening four-ball session of the Army-Navy Star Series presented by USAA on Saturday at the West Point Golf Course.
The Black Knights captured two of the four matches and earned a half-point in another contest to take a one-point lead into Sunday's singles competition.
Army opened the day with a hard-fought draw as William Huang and Grant Paolucci halved their match against Navy's Collin Alstrin and Sebastian Alonzo, earning a half-point for the Black Knights.
The pairing of Drew Jeffords and Jack Parel delivered Army's first full point of the afternoon with a convincing 3&2 victory over Timmy Luckett and Danny Auffant.
Navy's lone victory of the session came when Payton Cowhey and Elijah Estonilo defeated Ryan Lopez and Andre Chang by a 2&1 margin.
Army closed the day in strong fashion as Tyson Sparks and Matthew Duke secured a 3&2 victory over Hudson Mitchell and Josh Durthaler, giving the Black Knights a 2.5-1.5 lead heading into the final day of competition.
