Men's Rugby Surges in Second Half to Win at Penn State

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Army West Point men's rugby scored 36 points in the second half to claim a 43-8 victory over Penn State on Saturday.
The Black Knights claimed their first win in Rugby East action this season to advance to 1-1 in conference play, while moving their overall record to 4-1.
Porter Kuebler led the way for Army with 15 points on three tries. Nick Trout tallied 13 points on five conversions and a penalty, followed by Howie Heller, Jack Reed, and Benjamin Kemp who scored a try each.
An early penalty put the Black Knights behind in the opening minutes, but a Kuebler try with a conversion by Trout gave Army a 7-3 advantage that held through the remainder of the first half.
Army claimed the momentum in the second half, as a penalty from Trout followed by tries from Heller and Reed with Trout conversions gave the Black Knights a 21-point lead with 20 minutes left to play.
After a Penn State try in the 63rd minute, Kuebler responded with two more tries in the 67th and 72nd minute, along with another conversion from Trout. Army tacked on a try from Kemp with one more conversion from Trout with five minutes left to play to seal the road victory over the unbeaten Nittany Lions.
