Football’s Howard Named to Week 5 Paul Hornung Award Honor Roll
October 06, 2026 | Football
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Army West Point football senior slotback Samari Howard has been named to the Week 5 Paul Hornung Award Honor Roll for his performance against Louisiana Tech.
In Saturday's game at LA Tech, Howard led all rushers with a career-high 158 yards on a career-high 12 carries, including a 54-yard touchdown run, the first rushing score of his career, on the opening drive of the second half.
It was the second straight week which saw the Temple, Texas native recorded a new career-high, after rushing for 69 yards in Army's Week 4 win at Temple.
A season ago, Howard played in all 13 games and started in 12, recording 11 receptions for 133 yards and one touchdown while adding 13 rushes for 41 yards
The Louisville Sports Commission successfully launched the Paul Hornung Award in 2010 to honor its namesake and native son, and to promote outstanding performances by versatile college football players who often go unnoticed. Each week during the regular season, a panel of college football experts selects players for the Paul Hornung Award Honor Roll based on performance. A national selection committee comprised of 18 sports journalists and former NFL stars votes for the Hornung Award finalists and the winner, with fan voting powered by Texas Roadhouse comprising the 19th vote.
