Evan Plunkett, Sean Byrne Named to 2026 Tewaaraton Award Watch List

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Army West Point men's lacrosse seniors Sean Byrne and Evan Plunkett were selected to the 2026 Tewaaraton Award Watch List as announced Tuesday by the Tewaaraton Foundation.
The Tewaaraton Award is given annually to the top male and female college lacrosse players in the United States and is considered the sport's premier individual honor.
Byrne earned a place on the Tewaaraton Top 25 list last season in recognition of his standout junior campaign. Byrne earned the 2026 Patriot League Preseason Goalkeeper of the Year title as well as earning recognition to the 2026 USILA, Nike Lacrosse, and USA Lacrosse Preseason All-American Teams.
The Georgia native kicked off his senior campaign with a 2-0 start with 24 saves to earn wins against Massachusetts and No. 18 Rutgers.
Plunkett earned his third consecutive selection to the Tewaaraton Watch List following an impressive junior season in the midfield. Plunkett earned the 2026 Patriot League Preseason Offensive Player of the Year title as well as earning USILA, Nike Lacrosse, and USA Lacrosse Preseason First Team All-American honors earlier this season.
The midfielder has been a steadying presence in Army's midfield to begin the 2026 season, tallying four assists along with two ground balls and a caused turnover to help Army begin its 109th of competition.
The Black Knights will play their first game of the season at Michie Stadium on Saturday, February 14 against Yale. Faceoff is set for 12 p.m. ET.
