No. 10 Men’s Lacrosse Defeats Michigan 13-11 in Atlanta

ATLANTA, Ga. – On a rainy Saturday afternoon in Atlanta, the No. 10 Army West Point men's lacrosse team (4-0, 0-0 Patriot League) defeated the Michigan Wolverines (3-2, 0-0 Big Ten) 13-11 in Georgia.
Army's 13-11 lead earned the team its second victory over Michigan after previously besting the Wolverines 12-1 in 2013.
Four Black Knights tallied at least four points in the contest as Gunnar Fellows led all players with five points from four goals and an assist, Brayden Fountain with three goals and an assist for four points, and a goal and three assists each for Evan Plunkett and Hill Plunkett.
John Sullivan (3) and Keagan Treacy (2) led the Black Knights in caused turnovers to help Army lead the caused turnover battle 12-5.

HOW IT HAPPENED
After a downpour in Georgia early Saturday morning, the Black Knights settled in to face the Big Ten's Michigan Wolverines at B. T. Harvey Stadium.
Michigan's squad controlled the ball throughout the early stages of the game, racking up a 4-2 lead through the first quarter as the designated visiting team led the shots-on-goal battle 7-4 throughout the first 15 minutes of action.
The Black Knights stepped up the pace in the second period as both teams added three goals to their tally with goals for Army from Evan Plunkett, Mike Harney, and Brayden Fountain to bring the Wolverine's advantage down to one.
Army's team kicked the game into a new gear in the third quarter as Gunnar Fellows scored back-to-back goals to keep Army within one goal of Michigan after the Wolverines scored their eighth of the day.
Hill Plunkett scored his first goal of the day with just over two minutes left on the clock to put Army ahead 9-8 before Brayden Fountain brought Army into the double digits with a goal 38 seconds later to give the Black Knights a 10-8 lead heading into the fourth quarter.
Fellows found the back of the net for his third goal of the day on a running give-and-go from Evan Plunkett just a minute and a half into the final frame.
As the clock ticked down Michigan fought to regain ground, but big work from Army's defense and midfield held off the Wolverines until Fellows could bury his fourth goal of the day on a quick pass from Hill Plunkett with nine minutes remaining on the clock.
Michigan pushed back against Army's onslaught, scoring two goals within a minute of one another to bring the game within one, but a laser of a shot from Aiden Weisenborn extended Army's lead to two goals once more with four and a half minutes remaining in regulation.
Sophomore midfielder Tyler Clark joined in on the day's scoring action as his completed a set up from Hill Plunkett with 74 seconds left on the clock to put Army ahead 13-10, giving Army a cushion that Michigan cut to two with a goal a minute later, but the Black Knights held through the final buzzer to secure their fourth win of the season.
