February 24, 2026 | Hockey
BOSTON, Mass. – Army West Point hockey (12-14-6, 7-13-4 Atlantic Hockey America) sophomore goaltender JJ Cataldo earned his second AHA Goaltender of the Week award of the 2025-26 season after a career weekend in Colorado.
Cataldo was a steadfast presence in goal for the Black Knights in their two game road series at service academy rival Air Force to guide Army to a 1-0-1 record over the Falcons.
The Stuart, Fla. native tallied a career-high 50 saves in goal against Air Force's 53 shots on Friday to help Army to a 4-3 win.
The 50-save performance marked the most saves in a single game by an Army goaltender since 2012 when Rob Tadazak recorded 50 saves in Army's matchup against a ranked Maine team.
Cataldo stepped up to the challenge again on Saturday where he held the Falcons scoreless throughout regulation time and the five-minute overtime period to the tune of an additional 32 saves on the weekend.
Cataldo was a standout in the shootout where he denied all three Falcons sent to face him to secure the Black Knights' 1-0 shootout win.
