CLEVELAND – Army West Point wrestling's season came to an end Friday at the NCAA Championshups at Rocket Arena.
The Black Knights sent four wrestlers to the championships, with two athletes making it to the competition's second day.
Sophomore heavyweight Brady Colbert finished with a 2-2 record in Cleveland, ending his run at the tournament one match short of the blood round. The No. 15-seed's 6-1 win over Wyoming's Christian Carroll was Army's lone win in the championship bracket.
On Friday night, Colbert dropped his match to No. 2-seed Isaac Trumble of NC State, setting up a run in the consolation bracket run Saturday which featured a 6-1 win over Columbia's Vincent Mueller before a 7-4 loss to David Szuba ended his season.
Ethan Berginc's remarkable career came to an end for Army on Saturday, with the senior and 133 lb No. 14-seed going 1-2 across the event. Just the fifth four-time NCAA qualifier in program history, Berginc overcame a first round setback to win his opening wrestleback bout 19-5 over Central Michigan's Andrew Austin before dropping his second match Saturday to Northern Iowa's Julian Farber.
Braden Basile (141 lbs) and Gunner Filipowicz (165 lbs) each went 0-2 in Cleveland.
First year Class of 1972 Head Men's Wrestling Coach Troy Nickerson led Army to a 5-5 dual record during the 2025-26 regular season, going 4-1 in EIWA duals including a 19-18 win at Navy. Army's win in Annapolis was its third in a row in the Star Dual, the second straight road win at Navy and the program's eighth over the past 12 years over its academy rival.
