PRINCETON, N.J. – Army West Point wrestling got 12 wrestlers on the podium to open the 2026-27 season at the Princeton Open on Sunday.
Among the highlights was Clare Booe's title defense in the women's 117 lb bracket, with the sophomore going 5-0 on the day, capped off with a win by fall over Brown's Calli Gilchrist.
On the men's side, 11 Black Knights placed, and three athletes made it to their respective title bouts.
Making his career debut, freshman Joseph Uhorchuk won each of his first three matches, including two by fall, to reach the 133 lb final, where he took a 9-5 defeat to Stanford's Siraj Sidhu.
Senior Gunner Filipowicz made his 174 lb debut to the tune of four consecutive wins, setting him up in the championship bout before falling 8-5 to Stanford's Collin Guffey.
Lucas Stoddard also made a run to the championship bout, thanks in part to a sudden victory win over Princeton's Mark Effendian in the semifinals. Stoddard got within a point of Lehigh's Nathan Taylor in the third period of the final, but the senior would settle for second place with a 5-3 defeat.
