Wrestling Announces Lehr as Director of Operations

WEST POINT, N.Y. – Army West Point Class of 1972 Head Men's Wrestling Coach Troy Nickerson has announced the hiring of Jacob Lehr as the program's Director of Wrestling Operations ahead of the 2026-27 season.
Lehr comes to West Point from The Citadel, where he served as Assistant Director of Athletic Programs as the institution's student success center from October 2023 onward.
"We're excited to welcome Jake to our staff as Director of Operations," said Nickerson. "Jake brings the organization, energy, and attention to detail our program needs to keep growing on and off the mat. His work will free up our coaches to focus on developing and recruiting Cadet-Wrestlers. He will be a great fit within the culture we're building here at West Point. "

"The academy's ideals of providing an elite level education while developing the next generation of leaders are very important to me personally, and I am excited to help this staff continue to build a successful program at the national level year in and year out."
At The Citadel, Lehr had two top 25 NWCA Scholar All-American teams (No. 25 in 2024 and No. 13 in 2025) and 11 NWCA Scholar All-Americans. The Citadel also set a school record for athletic department GPA in the Spring 2026 semester (3.495).
From January to October 2023, Lehr was the Assistant Director of Compliance and Business at The Citadel, where he was responsible for official and unofficial visits, coding of students, management of NCAA paperwork, and other compliance-related duties. From August 2021 to January 2023, he also served as a Graduate Assistant Director of Wrestling Operations with the Bulldogs' program.
From January 2023 onward, Lehr has served on the board of the Charleston Regional Training Center in Charleston, South Carolina, first as president and later as secretary and treasurer. He was also the treasurer at South Carolina USA Wrestling from December 2023 to August 2024.
Lehr's wrestling coaching career began in the 2020-21 season as an assistant varsity and head JV coach at Creekview High School in Canton, Ga.
From 2016-20, Lehr wrestled at Cornell, where the Big Red were three-time Ivy League Champions and three-time top 10 national finishers. Lehr also wrestled internationally in Ireland, Finland, and Estonia, and won the 2018 Irish Open Champion at 65kg. He earned his bachelor's degree at Cornell's school of Industrial and Labor Relations, before earning an MBA at The Citadel.
