Men’s Tennis Wins Thriller Over Bucknell

SOUTH WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – The Army West Point men's tennis team recorded a thrilling 4-3 road victory over Bucknell on Saturday afternoon at the Central PA Tennis Center.
Army (15-7, 3-0) had a rough start to the match, dropping the doubles point before putting together a gritty performances during singles actions to remain undefeated in Patriot League play.
In doubles, Bucknell (9-9, 1-1) recorded a 6-4 win at No. 3 and a 7-5 victory at No. 2 to take the early 1-0 team lead going into singles.
The Bison quickly doubled its lead with a straight-set win at No. 5, but Matias Feoli responded almost immediately with a 6-3, 6-4 win at No. 4 to get Army on the board. Jackson Armistead even things up at 2-2 for Army with a come-from-behind 1-6, 6-3, 6-2 win in the top spot.
Bucknell jumped back ahead, 3-2, with a three-set victory in the No. 2 spot. With defeat looming, Alan Ton stepped up in a big way for the Black Knights, winning 7-6, 6-4 at the No. 3 spot to push everything back into a deadlock.
The match now came down to the No. 6 spot, where Davis McDonald came through for Army. He opened his match with a 6-2 win but dropped the second set 7-6. With it all coming down to the third and final frame, McDonald dominated with a 6-2 win to clinch the match for Army.

Army will pause for spring break this upcoming week, and will be back in action against NJIT on April 8 at West Point.
