Men’s Tennis Drops Saturday Match to Wagner

WEST POINT, N.Y. – The Army West Point men's tennis team fell to Wagner, 4-3, on Saturday afternoon at the Lichtenberg Tennis Center.
Army (16-9) battled tough on its senior day, but came up just short. Prior to the match, Army recognized its three seniors – Daniel Choi, Jack Hanna and Marcus Sebastian – and all their contributions to the program over the last four seasons.
Army kicked things off with a win at the No. 2 doubles spot, as Jimin Jung and Alan Ton won 6-2. Wagner responded with a pair of 6-4 wins at No. 1 and No. 3 to clinch the opening point of the match.
Wagner doubled its lead with a two-set win at No. 2. Army got on the board with a 3-6, 6-0, 6-3 win at No. 1 by Jung. The Black Knights evened things up at 2-2, as Choi recorded a 6-3, 4-6, 6-4 win in the No. 3 spot.
The Seahawks jumped back ahead 3-2 after a win in the fifth spot. However, Army quickly responded with a 2-6, 6-4, 7-6 win from Hanna to make it 3-3.
The match was decided in a marathon battle at No. 5, as Davis McDonald and Pablo Rodriguez dueled it out for nearly three and a half hours, with Rodriguez winning in three sets to clinch the match for Wagner.
