WEST POINT, N.Y. — Army West Point Athletics Director of Athletics, Tom Theodorakis, has announced the promotion of Kat Mirance to Senior Associate Director of Athletics for Sport Administration. A veteran administrator with deep roots in collegiate athletic operations, Mirance will transition into this expanded leadership role effective immediately.
In her new capacity, Mirance will expand her portfolio as a sport administrator; building on her current oversight of the Volleyball and Women's Lacrosse programs, Mirance is slated to assume sport administrator responsibilities for several programs.
"Kat has proven herself to be an exceptional leader and an invaluable asset to our department since the day she arrived at West Point," said Director of Athletics Tom Theodorakis. "Her sharp financial acumen, combined with her extensive background in sport oversight at the Division I level, makes her the ideal person to step into this senior leadership role. We are confident that our cadet-athletes, coaches, and staff will continue to thrive under her guidance."
Mirance first joined the Army West Point staff in September 2021 as the Assistant Athletic Director – Business Office. Following two years of exceptional fiscal leadership, she was promoted to
Associate Athletic Director – Business in August 2023. In that role, she successfully managed day-to-day business operations and financial reporting for the department while simultaneously serving as the sport administrator for volleyball and women's lacrosse.
Prior to arriving at West Point, Mirance spent five and a half years at Manhattan College as the Associate Athletic Director – Business Affairs/Senior Woman Administrator (SWA). During her tenure with the Jaspers, she gained comprehensive sport administration experience, overseeing women's basketball, women's lacrosse, women's soccer, volleyball, men's basketball, men's soccer, and swimming & diving.
Mirance has also been highly active on the conference and national levels. She previously served as the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Women's Lacrosse Committee Chair, a MAAC Women's Basketball Committee member, and was appointed to the prestigious NCAA Women's Lacrosse National Committee from September 2019 to September 2021.
"I am incredibly honored and excited to take on this new role within Army West Point Athletics," Mirance said. "It is a privilege to support our coaches and staff, and to serve the cadet-athletes who represent this historic institution. I look forward to working closely with our programs to foster an environment of competitive excellence and leadership development."
Her administrative career also includes a two-year stint at George Washington University as the Assistant Athletic Business Manager, which followed five and a half years at American University, where she served in a multitude of roles primarily centered within Business Operations.
A former Division I student-athlete, Mirance was a four-year letter-winner for the women's lacrosse team at American University, where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a specialization in finance. She later completed her Master of Accountancy at George Washington University.
A native of New York, Mirance currently resides in Cornwall, N.Y., with her husband, Jimmy, and their children, Serafina and Santino "Sonny."
