Scott Fortier Named Assistant Coach of Swimming & Diving

WEST POINT, N.Y. – Army West Point Director of Swimming and Diving Scott Thacker has announced the hiring of Scott Fortier as an assistant coach.
Scott Fortier enters his first season as an assistant coach with the Army West Point swimming and diving program after serving as head coach and program director of Cat 5 Aquatics in Panama City, Fla.
"I am very honored to be joining the Army West Point swimming and diving team," said Fortier. "I am grateful for the opportunity to work with cadet-athletes as they pursue excellence in and out of the pool. My family and I are so excited to be a part of this great program and academy."
"Scott brings an incredible breadth of high-level coaching experience to West Point, having developed top-tier talent everywhere from international decks and the SEC to elite club programs. His proven track record of mentoring championship-level athletes and elevating talent at every stage makes him a vital addition to our staff. We are thrilled to welcome Scott and his family to Army West Point and know he will add tremendous value to our staff and team," said Army West Point Director of Swimming and Diving Scott Thacker.
Fortier has experience at every level of the sport, from age-group and club swimming to NCAA Division I and international competition. During his time at Cat 5 Aquatics, he led the club's training and operations while developing swimmers from the learn-to-swim level through national-level competition. His athletes achieved team and LSC records, qualified for championship meets, and continued on to collegiate swimming.
Before leading Cat 5 Aquatics, Fortier served as head coach of the St. Croix Dolphins and coached the U.S. Virgin Islands National Team, helping prepare athletes for the World Championships, CARIFTA Championships and other international competitions. He also spent four seasons as assistant coach and recruiting director at the University of Cincinnati after coaching stints at LSU, Tiger Aquatics and his alma mater, the University of Alabama.
A former scholarship swimmer at Alabama, Fortier competed at the 2012 U.S. Olympic Team Trials and earned top-eight finishes at USA Swimming Junior Nationals. He graduated from Alabama with a bachelor's degree in family financial planning and counseling.
Fortier and his wife, Caitey, have two sons, Adrian and Brooks. They are excited to join the Army West Point community and help continue the Black Knights swimming and diving program's tradition of excellence.
