Sprint Football Adds Jermaine Austin as Assistant Coach

WEST POINT, N.Y. — Army West Point sprint football has announced the hiring of Jermaine Austin as an Assistant Sprint Football Coach, bringing more than 11 years of coaching experience and a decorated playing career to the program.
Austin arrives at West Point after a successful tenure at Millennium High School and McIntosh County Schools, where he led the Varsity Girls Flag Football program to a Top-8 national ranking, a District Championship, and consecutive Top-2 finishes in Arizona. Under his leadership, six former players advanced to compete at the collegiate level. He also served as Varsity Running Backs Coach and Varsity Wrestling Coach, developing athletes through position-specific training, competitive preparation, and leadership mentorship.
A standout student-athlete at Georgia Southern University, Austin ranks second all-time in program history with 5,411 career rushing yards, trailing only Adrian Peterson. He earned NCAA All-American honors, was inducted into the Georgia Southern Football Hall of Fame in 2021 and later participated in an NFL tryout with the New York Giants. Austin is also an initiated member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc.
In addition to his coaching background, Austin is a dedicated educator with extensive experience in special education. He currently serves as a Special Education Teacher at Millennium High School, where he co-teaches Algebra I and develops data-driven, legally compliant Individualized Education Programs (IEPs). He previously taught at Wigwam Creek Middle School, delivering targeted academic interventions and supporting diverse learners.
Austin holds a Master of Education in Special Education from Grand Canyon University and a Bachelor's degree from Georgia Southern University.
