Reive Adds Nunez, Dodanli to Gymnastics Staff

WEST POINT, N.Y. – Army West Point men's gymnastics head coach JD Reive has announced the additions of Emre Dodanli and Zachary Nunez as assistant coaches on his staff.
"I am excited to welcome Zach and Emre to the coaching staff," said Reive. "They each possess a wealth of competitive experiences and athletic accomplishments, but together they present an exceptional opportunity to contribute to the team's full competitive potential. Their passion for the elite level of the sport aligns seamlessly with my vision for the program and our responsibility to the broader mission of West Point."
Dodanli arrives at West Point after a decorated career at Oklahoma, where he capped his collegiate run as the 2026 NCAA National Champion on high bar. He was a 15-time All-American and three-time conference champion for the Sooners, and was named a finalist for the Nissen-Emery Award, presented annually to the top senior in men's collegiate gymnastics.
"Army Gymnastics represents more than a century of tradition, and being able to contribute to that legacy is something I take great pride in," said Dodanli. "What excites me most is the opportunity to pass on what athletics has taught me and help these cadets grow beyond the sport. The tenacity and leadership demanded in gymnastics are qualities they will carry forward as Army officers. I'm grateful to work alongside JD Reive and Zachary Nunez and to play a role in preparing these young men to represent something greater than themselves."
Dodanli also represented Turkey on the international stage as a member of the Turkish National Gymnastics Team from 2021-25, competing as an Olympic gymnast at the 2024 Summer Games in Paris. He was named team captain of OU men's gymnastics in his final season and was a 10-time Academic All-American, earning Team Academic All-American and All-America Scholar-Athlete honors along the way. Dodanli graduated from Oklahoma in May 2026 with a Bachelor of Science in Health and Exercise Science and a minor in Psychology.
Nunez joins the Black Knights after serving as an assistant coach at the Bart Conner Academy in Norman, Okla., where he coached recreational and competitive boys' gymnasts from beginner through optional levels. He previously worked as a recreation coach for the OU Developmental Gymnastics Clinic, instructing athletes ages 12-18 in gymnastics fundamentals.
A three-time NCAA All-American, Nunez competed collegiately at the University of Oklahoma from 2020-25, where he partnered with the team's sports psychologist to strengthen mental preparation and mentored incoming athletes as they adjusted to elite competition. In his final season, he was named team captain of OU men's gymnastics, helping lead the Sooners to the 2025 MPSF Conference Championship. Nunez graduated from Oklahoma in May 2025 with a degree in Psychology.
