Sprint Football Dominant in 41-10 Victory Over Caldwell to Secure First Win of 2026
September 19, 2026 | Sprint Football
The Black Knights controlled the line of scrimmage from the opening snap, finishing with 448 yards of total offense and holding the Cougars to –4 rushing yards on 10 attempts. Army's backfield set the tone throughout the night, led by junior JP Ross, who delivered a standout performance with 132 yards and three touchdowns on 19 carries. Ross averaged 6.9 yards per attempt and scored on runs of 1, 5 and 1 yards, fueling a decisive surge that turned a 13–3 halftime lead into a comfortable margin.
Senior Gabriel Bolivar complemented Ross with 104 yards and a touchdown on 15 carries, giving Army two 100-yard rushers and helping the Black Knights average 6.4 yards per carry. Quarterback senior Kyle West efficiently directed the offense, completing 13 of 22 passes for 96 yards, while sophomore Max Sinkovic added the game's longest play, a 51-yard touchdown strike to junior Jeff Ryder late in the third quarter.
Army built an early lead behind the leg of junior Nicholas Cueto, who connected on field goals from 15 and 39 yards and finished with 11 points, going 5-for-5 on PATs. Caldwell cut the deficit to 6–3 midway through the second quarter, but Army responded with a 1-yard touchdown run from Ross to take a 13–3 advantage into halftime.
The Black Knights took full control in the third quarter, scoring touchdowns on four straight drives. Ross found the end zone twice more, Bolivar added his 12-yard score, and Sinkovic's deep strike to Ryder capped the explosive stretch. Army's offense ran 75 plays and held the ball for 35:35, consistently wearing down the Caldwell defense.
Army's defensive unit delivered an equally strong performance, limiting Caldwell to 3-of-14 on third down and generating six tackles for loss, two sacks, and a key interception from sophomore Silas Wilson, who returned it 35 yards. Linebacker senior Caleb McGarity led the way with six tackles and five pass breakups, while senior JC Romo added two breakups as the Black Knights disrupted the Cougars' passing rhythm throughout the night.
