Women's Soccer Earns Four Patriot League Weekly Honors After Shutting Out American in Conference Opener

WEST POINT, N.Y. — Army West Point women's soccer had three players honored by the Patriot League office Monday, as freshman Kamryn McWhinney was named Forward of the Week and Rookie of the Week, Karalyn Dail was tabbed Goalkeeper of the Week, and Daisy West earned Defender of the Week.
The four honors follow a 3-0 win over American on Saturday at Malek Stadium at Clinton Field, Army's Patriot League opener of the season.
McWhinney provided the offensive spark in the win, recording a second-half brace to put the game away. The freshman struck in the 65th minute and again in the 71st — a goal that was initially waved off for offside before being confirmed via video review — pushing her season total to five goals, the Black Knights leading scorer.
Dail turned in her second shutout of the season in net, making two saves as Army held American to just eight shots and two shots on goal across the full match.
West anchored the back line for the full 90 minutes, helping the Black Knights limit American's attack throughout while also getting forward to test the American goalkeeper with a shot of her own.
Army improved to 4-6-0 overall and 1-0-0 in Patriot League play with the win. The Black Knights will look to carry the momentum from their weekly award haul into their next conference matchup.
