Austin Pert joined Army West Point in February 2024 as Assistant Director of Athletic Communications.
In his role, Pert serves as the secondary contact for Army Football, and the primary contact for the Baseball, Wrestling, Women's Tennis and Men's Rugby programs.
In addition to handling Army Football credentialing and overall communications efforts at the Army-Navy football game, Pert also served as the liaison in coverage of the LG Presents: The Rivalries documentary of Army-Navy baseball rivalry. He also headed baseball communications for Army Baseball at the 2024 NCAA Athens Regional, arranging media availabilities and coordinating meetings with the ESPN broadcast crew.
Previously, Pert also handled responsibilities for the Men's Soccer and Sprint Football programs. With those programs, he spearheaded communications efforts for Army’s side of the Army-Navy Cup soccer match at Subaru Park, home of the Philadelphia Union, attended by over 10,000 fans and most attended D1 Men’s Soccer match of the 2024 regular season, as well as Army's 2024 CSFL Sprint Football Championship run.
Before arriving at Army, Pert served as an Athletic Communications Assistant at Middle Tennessee State University in Murfreesboro, Tenn. from September 2022 to January 2024. He was the primary contact for Baseball and Women’s Soccer at the Conference USA school, while also the secondary contact for Men’s Basketball. While at MTSU, Pert also handled in-game social media for the Football and Men's Basketball team accounts. Pert also coordinated media efforts for the MTSU vs. Vanderbilt Women's Soccer match at GEODIS Park, home of Nashville SC, and garnered CSC Second Team Academic All-American accolades for baseball student-athlete Jeremiah Boyd.
From January to September 2022, Pert was a Media Relations Intern at Roger Dean Chevrolet Stadium in Jupiter, Fla. In that all-encompassing role, he was the primary media contact for the Palm Beach Cardinals, the Single-A affiliate of the St. Louis Cardinals in the Florida State League. Pert also assisted in an array of venue-wide marketing, promotions and event presentation efforts, and helped run press box operations for the St. Louis Cardinals and Miami Marlins Spring Training season. While in Jupiter, Pert witnessed the experimental use of the pitch clock and Automated Ball-Strike System (ABS) before usage in MLB, sitting next to the ABS technician during games and relaying ABS challenge results to the public address announcer and official scorer. Pert also handled videoboard operations during Palm Beach home games, creating content and operating the board in-game.
Pert graduated from the University of Miami in December 2021, with a Bachelor's Degree in Communication Science, majoring in Journalism. While at Miami, Pert worked in the university’s athletic communications office. He also was a Senior Sports Writer for The Miami Hurricane and the Sports Editor for Ibis Yearbook. Pert spent the Summer of 2021 as a Public Relations Intern for the Northwoods League's Wausau Woodchucks, and the Summer of 2019 as a Multimedia Intern for the Coastal Plain League in North Carolina.
Pert is originally from the Nashville suburb of Brentwood, Tenn. His favorite professional sports team is the Tennessee Titans. He currently resides in Highland Falls.
