Women’s Basketball Faces Duke in First Road Test

WEST POINT, N.Y. – The Army West Point women's basketball team takes to the road for the first time this season when it travels to Durham, N.C., to play nationally ranked Duke on Sunday, Nov. 22 at Cameron Indoor Stadium. Tip-off is set for 2 p.m.

STORYLINES
Army hits the road for the first time this season to play its first-ever contest against Duke. The Black Knights are coming off a game in which three players scored in double figures, including seniors Kelsey Minato (23) and Aimee Oertner (14), and freshman Madison Hovren (11). After overcoming slow starts in its first two games of the year, Army came storming out of the game to take a 20-point lead after the first period against Central Connecticut State on Nov. 19 before winning by 29 points.
ARMY WEST POINT (3-0) NOTES
• Minato reached the 20-point mark for the third game in a row to begin the year, finishing with a game-high 23 points. Minato netted eight points in the first half before adding 15 more in the second half.
• Oertner collected her eighth career double-double, and her first of the season, with 14 points and 10 rebounds, while Hovren posted a career-best 11 points to include a 7-of-8 showing at the foul line.
• Army collected 44 rebounds in the Central Connecticut State game and now has at least 40 rebounds in all three of its games after finishing last season with three 40-rebound contests.
• The Black Knights have shot about 40-percent in each of their first three games, finishing with a percentage of 45.0 percent (27-of-60) after shooting 42 percent and 40.4 percent in games against Quinnipiac and Pepperdine, respectively.

• After winning its first two games to begin the year, #14/9 Duke fell at home to #12/12 Texas A&M on Nov. 18, 72-66.
• Redshirt sophomore Rebecca Greenwell led the way for the Blue Devils with 22 points on 8-of-10 shooting, while classmate Azurá Stevens finished with a double-double after posting 12 points and 16 rebounds.
• Greenwell leads Duke in scoring with 16.0 points per game, while Stevens averages a double-double with 15.0 points per game and 11.3 rebounds per game.
• The Blue Devils are currently ranked 14th in the AP Poll and stand ninth in the USA Today Coaches Poll.
MINATO, HOVREN COLLECT WEEKLY HONORS
Minato and Hovren were honored in the first addition of Patriot League weekly awards on Monday, as Minato was named the league's Player of the Week for the 12th time in her career and Hovren drew Rookie of the Week praise. Minato averaged 27.0 points and 7.5 rebounds in two games last week, while Hovren posted averages of 4.5 points and 4.0 rebounds per contest.
CRASHING THE BOARDS
After finishing near the bottom of the Patriot League in the rebounding department in 2014-15, Army currently stands third in the conference with 43.7 rebounds through three contests this year. The Black Knights collected 44 boards in the season opener against Pepperdine before hauling in 43 and 44 rebounds, respectively, against Quinnipiac and Central Connecticut State. Oertner leads the way early this season with 7.0 rebounds per game, while Minato (6.0) and junior Dani Failor (5.3) have also been strong contributors on the glass. The early play of Hovren (4.0) has provided the Black Knights with another solid rebounding threat, as Hovren is also second on the team with 2.3 offensive rebounds per game.
