Women’s Soccer Resumes League Play at Lafayette

WEST POINT, N.Y. – The Army West Point women's soccer team resumes Patriot League play on Saturday night when its travels to Easton, Pa., to face Lafayette. Game time from Oaks Stadium is scheduled for 7 p.m. and the contest can be seen on the Patriot League Network.
The Leopards boast the best winning percentage in the Patriot League (.714) and are 5-2-0 on the year, but fell in overtime at Loyola to begin conference play last weekend. Kaelin King scored the lone goal to tie the game for Lafayette in the 2-1 setback, but Loyola's Rosy Hayes beat goalkeeper Kelly O'Brien to give the Greyhounds three points.
King and Melissa Lynskey each have four goals for Lafayette, while Katie Brannigan has eight points (2G, 4A). Anna Wissler has scored twice and assisted on two goals in 2015. In goal, O'Brien earned her first start against the Greyhounds and has played in four matches overall. Danielle Sedillo has a 4-1 record in six starts and a 1.28 goals-against average with one clean sheet.
Army is one of four teams (Holy Cross, Lehigh) to earn a point on opening weekend after playing Navy to a 2-2 draw at Clinton Field. Katie Holder registered the first multi-goal game of her career and now leads the Black Knights with four on the season. The senior scored in the 36th minute and again in the 56th minute to break ties, before Clare MacAdam leveled the score at 2-2 with nine minutes remaining. Freshman Jade Jamison picked up her first-career assist on Holder's second goal against the Mids.
Senior forward Bailey Widman netted her second goal of the season on Sunday afternoon when the Black Knights fell on the road to Columbia by a 2-1 margin. Widman scored directly off a corner kick in the first minute of the game, but ultimately moved to 2-6-1 on the year with the result.
In 25 all-time meetings with Lafayette, Army is 21-2-2 against the Leopards. The Black Knights won last year (2-0) and have won three straight contests. Overall, Army is unbeaten (6-0-2) in its last eight games versus Lafayette.
