Army Impressive in West Point Open Finals

WEST POINT, N.Y. – The Army West Point gymnastics team wrapped up competition at the 25th Annual West Point Open on Saturday evening, competing in the individual finals from Chirstl Arena.

Army earned a total of 10 top-six marks on the afternoon as seven gymnasts competed in the final day of competition.
Â
On floor exercise, Sam Kusnitz earned took fourth with a score of 14.000 and plebe Cole Casanova earned sixth with a score of 13.800.

Nathan Goff led the way for Army on pommel horse with a score of 14.400 to place third. He was joined on the podium by Andre Hufnagel who placed fifth with a mark of 13.600.

In just his second collegiate meet, Elliott Herman led the way for the Black Knights on still rings, placing third with a mark of 14.300. Ryan Wilson tied for fifth with a score of 13.800.

On vault, Sam Kusnitz placed second with a mark of 14.700 while he was joined on the podium by Wilson who took sixth with a score of 13.600.

The Black Knights were dominant on high bar as well, with Goff earning third with a score of 14.300 and co-captain Leo Genders earning fifth with a score of 13.700.

Army will return to action on Jan. 29 when the Black Knights host service academy rival Air Force at Gross Center at 4 p.m.
