Rifle Places 2nd at Air Force

COLORADO SPRINGS, CO. – The Army West Point rifle team came in second at the President's trophy match behind No. 5 Air Force, while taking down No. 15 Navy and Coast Guard.
There were two different types of scoring in the quad match. For President's Trophy each team had eight cadets compete, taking the top four scores. For NCAA scoring each team picks five cadets, but takes only the top four scores.

COACH WRIGHT'S COMMENTS:
"Brewer had a pretty good day today, the whole team is capable of scores like that. We are getting there. If you look at where we were this time last year and the year before, you can definitely see the improvement. I know we have more in us and we are looking forward to next week."

AGGREGATE SCORING
- Air Force led the pack scoring a 4698 as it outscored the other service academies in both air rifle (2376) and smallbore (2322).
- The Black Knights came in second with an aggregate score of 4646 shooting 2344 in air rifle and 2302 in smallbore.
- Navy captured third scoring 4607 with 2272 in smallbore and 2335 in air rifle.
- Rounding out the scoring was Coast Guard accumulating and aggregate score of 4474 with a 2272 in air rifle and a 2202 in smallbore.
HOW IT HAPPENED IN SMALLBORE
- Army was led by sophomore Nathan Brewer and senior Marvin Lewis shooting a 583 and 575, respectfully.
- Ryan Jacobs of Air Force was the top scorer of the field shooting a 584.
- Rounding out the scoring for the Black Knights was senior Danielle Cuomo (573) and sophomore Payne Nunn (571).
HOW IT HAPPENED IN AIR RIFLE
- The field was led by the Falcons' Spencer Cap who shot two points off of a perfect score (598).
- Brewer captured fourth overall as the leading scorer for Army shooting a 592.
- The Black Knights closed out with Cuomo (588), rookie Madeline Erikson (582) and Lewis (580).
COACH WRIGHT'S COMMENTS:

- Army will return home on Nov. 11 to host No. 11 Ole Miss at the Tronsrue Marksmanship Center at 9 A.M.
