LAST TIME OUT
The Black Knights split their only two matches of the holiday weekend with a 4-3 win against Florida Atlantic and 4-0 loss to Miami (Fla.). The meeting with the Hurricanes, which was the first ever between the two programs, was scheduled to be a doubleheader, but the second match was cancelled due to rain.
Michael Nguyen and Michael Sienko were the only two Black Knights to go undefeated against Florida Atlantic on Sunday, Feb. 14. The two teamed for a 7-6 (7-5) win in the third doubles position and then Nguyen cruised to a 6-1, 6-2 win in the fifth singles position while Sienko won 6-4, 7-6 (11-9) in the sixth singles spot.
Grant Riechmann challenged the Miami's nationally ranked Piotr Lomacki in the top singles battle on Monday, Feb. 15. The Black Knights junior won the first set 6-2 before falling 6-1, 6-2 over the final two frames.
In all against Miami, the Cadets held a lead multiple times in singles play against the 'Canes.
SCOUTING FAIRLEIGH DICKINSON
Fairleigh Dickinson lost its only match thus far getting swept by St. John's 7-0 on Feb. 5. The Knights, who were 7-10 last season and lost to Bryant 4-3 in the NEC Championship, boast a number of international players as only one individual on their roster is an American.
Adam Chan is already familiar with one of his possible opponents. The native of England faced Riechmann at the ITA Regionals and lost 6-7, 6-2, 7-5. The potential rematch could happen in the top singles spot, as Chan served in that position in the Knights only match this season while Riechmann has done so in Army's last two meets.
SCOUTING SACRED HEART
The Pioneers play Marist at West Point, N.Y., the day before facing the Black Knights. They enter that match having won their last contest 4-3 against Colgate.
Sacred Heart posted a 4-14 record last season. In the fall, freshman Derek Chapman and junior Anthony Savio won a match at the ITA Northeast Regionals. Savio, however, has not played yet this spring season.
SERIES HISTORY
Army and Fairleigh Dickinson will be facing off for the 18th time in a series that has been dominated by the Black Knights, who hold a 16-1 advantage including a 6-1 win last season.
The Cadets are 3-1 lifetime versus Sacred Heart and shutout the Pioneers 7-0 last year while not conceding a set.
NEXT UP: Saturday, February 27 vs. Minnesota – 11 a.m. (ET)
Army heads to Minneapolis, Minn. for a pair of games. The first will come next Saturday, Feb. 27, against Minnesota. The Golden Gophers are tied for 45th in the latest ITA Team Rankings. The Black Knights then face Illinois State the next day at 12 p.m. (ET).
NEW VISITOR POLICY
New policies have been put in place regarding visitors to West Point. People using a driver's license from the states of Illinois, Minnesota, Missouri, New Mexico or Washington will have to use another approved form of identification in order to enter West Point and all other military installations, due to federal guidelines. If you possess a valid Department of Defense issued identification card, this new requirement does not affect your ability to enter military installations.
Acceptable alternate forms of identification are a U.S. passport, a permanent resident card/Alien Registration Receipt Card (form 1-551), a foreign passport with a temporary I-551 stamp or visa or an employment authorization document that contains a photograph (Form I-766).
