Thirteen-Ranked Gymnasts Head to No. 15 Springfield Sunday

WEST POINT, N.Y. - Â The Army West Point men's gymnastics team, coming off a triangular sweep last weekend, will look to expand on its win streak as it heads to Massachusetts to take on Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) rival Springfield Sunday, 1 p.m., at Blake Arena.

The No. 13-ranked Black Knights (3-2, 2-1 ECAC), who list second in the ECAC, outpointed conference rivals No. 15 Springfield (413.85-399.85) and No. 14 William & Mary (413.85-395.10) in last week's home finale.

ARMY LAST TIME OUT: Jesse Glenn captured two of the individual events, along with winning all-around for the third time this season, leading his classmates to a pair of wins on Senior Day. He broke his own school record on high bar (15.40) and his score is tied for the fourth highest in the country thus far this season. Glenn is ranked fourth nationally on that apparatus with a 15.20 average, and lists first in the ECAC.

Plebe Cole Casanova won still rings, was second on vault, third on high bar posting season highs, and took second in all-around, and his classmate, Elliott Herman, rounded out Army's winners capturing floor exercise.

Army, which shows a national average of 420.617, turned in a team high 422.85 in its win over Air Force, while its conference average is 415.475.
SPRINGFIELD COLLEGE LAST TIME OUT: Joe Zirna led the way for the No. 15 Pride, helping them outpoint William & Mary in last week's triangular hosted by Army. Zirna captured pommel horse (15.05) and tied for first place honors on parallel bars (13.7) along with tying his season-high 13.75 on floor exercise.
The Pride's highest score of the season is a 409.15 scored in a second place finish at the Peachtree Invitational. Springfield shows a three-score national average of 404.267 and a 401.48 mark in the conference.
ECAC: Army is ranked second in the ECAC with a three-score national average of 420.617 and conference average of 415.475, and Springfield lists fourth behind averages of 404.267 and 401.48, respectively.

The Black Knights are the team leader in four (floor exercise, pommel horse, vault and high bar) of the six events along with listing second on still rings and third on parallel bars. The Pride are ranked second behind Army on pommel horse (68.767) and list one higher than the Black Knights on parallel bars with a 68.65 average, but Army has a higher team score (71.70-69.15).

Individually, Jesse Glenn of Army ranks first in the conference in all-around (85.233 average) and high bar (15.20), and second on vault (14.683), fourth on parallel bars (14.10), pommel horse (14.50) and floor exercise (15.05).

HIGH BAR - Army First (71.517), Springfield Third (67.917): One of Army's strongest events is high bar where the team average of 71.517 ranks eighth in the country. Three Black Knights are ranked in the top four in Glenn, who is first, followed by No. 3 Leo Genders (14.65) and No. 4 Nathan Goff (14.45). Overall, Army has five among the top nine.
