American Comes to Michie Stadium This Weekend

WEST POINT, N.Y. – The Army West Point women's lacrosse team continues with its final two home games of the 2016 season, beginning with a contest against American on Saturday, April 16 at 3:30 p.m. The women's game versus American will follow the men's Army-Navy Lacrosse game presented by USAA.

The Black Knights were last in action on April 10, when they fell to a 14-6 defeat at Lehigh. Army trimmed a four-goal deficit in the first half down to one before trailing 6-4 at halftime. The Mountain Hawks closed the game with six unanswered goals to pull away for the win.
ARMY WEST POINT (5-8, 0-5 PATRIOT LEAGUE) NOTES
• Sophomore Rachel Hornick and freshman Nikki Polhamus each scored twice in the Lehigh tilt, while freshman Izzy McMahon tallied a goal and an assist.
• With her two goals, Hornick became the second Black Knight to reach the 20-goal mark this season, raising her total to 21 goals.
• Sophomore Amy Johnston leads the Black Knights with 22 goals, 13 assists, 35 points and 49 draw controls.
• Freshman Kayla Rowley made 10 saves opposite Lehigh for her third straight double-digit save game. Rowley ranks second in the Patriot League with 2.85 ground balls per game, while Johnston is tied for third in the conference with 3.77 draw controls per contest.
AMERICAN (4-10, 1-5 PATRIOT LEAGUE) NOTES
• American is coming off a 12-8 loss at Bucknell on April 10.
• Senior Jessica Wojciechowski led the Eagles with three goals and an assist, while classmate Olivia Mangan and sophomore Jennifer DeSimone each finished with a pair of goals.
• DeSimone paces American with 31 goals on the year, while Mangan leads the team with 40 points.
• Freshman Fiona Geier lists second among Patriot League goalies with 7.71 saves per game and Mangan ranks fourth with 3.64 points per outing.
UP NEXT
With three games remaining, Army plays its home finale on Wednesday, April 20 when it hosts Colgate at 4 p.m. The Black Knights will honor seniors Anna Smith and Leah Wasserman in a Senior Day ceremony prior to Wednesday's game.
