Women’s Tennis Hosts Senior Day This Weekend

WEST POINT, N.Y. – The Army West Point women's tennis team hosts a pair of Patriot League foes this weekend. Boston University will battle the Black Knights on Saturday, April 9, at 11 a.m. Then Army hosts Bucknell Sunday on Senior Day. The ceremony is slated to begin at 10 a.m. with the matches beginning shortly after.
The Black Knights own a 17-4 record and are 3-0 in conference. The Terriers stand at 7-7 and are 2-0 in the Patriot League, while the Bison are 10-5 this spring and also 3-0 in conference.

LAST TIME OUTArmy saw its 10-match unbeaten streak come to an end at Albany on Wednesday as the Great Danes won 7-0.
The pairing of junior Nancy Porter and freshman Genevieve McCormick lost for the first time this spring by the narrow margin of 7-6. They are now 5-1.
SENIOR DAY
The Black Knights will honor four seniors before the start of the Bucknell match. Haley O'Connor, Carolyn Pitman, Gabriella Spindler and Eva Sung will all be recognized before the match for their individual and team accomplishments over the last four years. They enter the weekend with 77 wins over the last four years, three shy of becoming the eighth straight four-year class to reach 80 team wins.
SCOUTING BOSTON UNIVERSITY
The Terriers did not lose a set in either of their first two conference matches this season, but they have not played a Patriot League team since defeating Holy Cross 7-0 on March 3. Boston U defeated Connecticut in its last outing by the score of 6-1.
Two-time Patriot League Player of the Year Johanna Hyoty leads Boston's line-up. The senior boasts a 7-4 record in singles this spring, all in the top flight.
SCOUTING BUCKNELL
Bucknell is also off to a strong start within the conference. The Bison's current four-game winning streak features wins over Loyola (Md.) (6-1), Colgate (4-0), and Lehigh (7-0). They topped Morgan State 4-1 in their last outing.
Senior Maria Cioffi has rattled off seven-straight singles wins. She is 17-4 this season and 8-2 in the spring.
SERIES HISTORY
Army has starkly different histories against the two squads. The Cadets have been unable to defeat the Terriers in 13 tries but own a 32-4 record all-time over Bucknell.
NEXT UP: Thursday, April 14 at Lehigh – Regular Season Finale
The Black Knights will conclude its regular season on the road next Thursday when they travel to Lehigh. The Mountain Hawks currently stand at 8-6 on the year and 3-2 in conference.
