CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The Harvard Crimson scored an early goal which proved decisive as the Army West Point women's soccer team fell 1-0 here Monday night.

The Crimson tallied the game's lone goal just 10:13 into the contest when Margaret Purce converted on a breakaway opportunity.

Despite the outcome, senior goalie Jordan Cassalia had herself a nice outing, including a brilliant save on a breakaway chance.

ARMY HIGHLIGHTS AND GAME NOTES

Harvard now owns a 2-0 edge on the all-time series, having also won 1-0 just a season ago.
The Crimson posted 15 shots to Army's four.
Sydney Witham, Clare Shea, Megan Gagnon and Kayla Swasey all recorded shots in the contest.
The hosts also held the advantage on corner kicks at 10-1.
Lauryn Westman earned her first career start Monday night for the Black and Gold.
Cassalia notched two saves in the match.

KEY MOMENT

With 58 seconds remaining in the opening half, Cassalia made the save of the game when she stiffed a Harvard forward on a breakaway opportunity. The stop kept it a 1-0 contest and gave the Black Knights some momentum heading into the second 45 minutes.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Just as the teams started to settle into the game, Harvard found itself on a breakaway chance. Purce finished off the opportunity into the lower right-hand corner for her first tally of the year.

The Black Knights now shift their attention to the Army West Point Fall Classic, which begins Friday. Army plays host to UNC Greensboro on Friday at 5 p.m. before welcoming DePaul on Sunday at 1:30 p.m. Both games are played at Clinton Field. Live stats and video will be available for each contest.
