DIRECTOR OF TRACK AND FIELD/ CROSS COUNTRY MIKE SMITH'S COMMENTS:
"There are always ups and downs at a championship meet and we had some of both today. On the plus side Kenneth Brinson's win in the weight throw was pretty special. He was in second the entire competition and launched the winner on his final throw. He is a great competitor. Our spring guys were really strong in the 60-meter and the 200-meter. Every guy that we entered qualified to run tomorrow so we have a chance to score a lot of points in those events. I thought the times that Dyer and Davis put up were pretty special. Dyer's 21.67 broke his own school record but, it only lasted a couple of minutes because Davis come out in a later heat and set a new school record. I was impress with those guys. We left a few points out there in some other events that we felt we would be able to get but, that is just how it goes. We have a lot of chances to score tomorrow and that is the name of the game. We have opportunities in almost every event. Now we have to capitalize on those opportunities and see what that gets us in the end."
