Track Splits Squad, Heads to Princeton and Albany

WEST POINT, N.Y. – The Army West Point men's track and field team will be splitting the team with some Cadet athletes competing in the Larry Ellis Invitational hosted by Princeton Friday and Saturday. The rest of the team will travel to Albany, N.Y., for the Albany Spring Classic on Saturday.

LAST YEAR AT THE LARRY ELLIS INVITATIONAL
- Ben Sims pulled out a first place finish in the 100-meter dash with a time of 10.47s.
- In the 800-meter run Trevor Touchton shone with his first place finish clocking 1:51.24.
- Lee Bares placed fourth in the pole vault reaching 5.10 meters.
- Senior Jose Santata placed second in the 400-meter dash with a time of 47.54s.
LAST TIME OUT
- Army placed first at the Bison Outdoor Classic over the weekend accumulating 54 points. The team was split as some members were also sent to the Gamecock Invitational to compete.Â
- At the Bison Outdoor Classic, firstie Jacob Fong captured first in the 3000-meter steeplechase clocking a time of 9:25.14. Firstie Trevor Touchton also claimed a first place victory in the 800-meter run crossing the finish line in 1:51.15. The 4x400 meter relay team of yearling Ben Boswell, cows Alex Combs and Nick Causey and firstie John Monday placed first with a time of 3:16.82.Â
- In the field events at the Bison Outdoor Classic, cow Lee Bares captured gold in the pole vault reaching a height of 5.10 meters.
- While at the Gamecock Invitational yearling Jeff Giannettino placed third in the high jump with a Patriot League season high leap of 2.11 meters.
