Army Travels to the Windy City for Three Matches

WEST POINT, N.Y. – The Army West Point volleyball team continues its tournament season this Friday and Saturday in the Windy City with three matches at the DePaul Invitational. The Black Knights will take on the host Blue Demons Friday night at 8 p.m. ET, as well as Northwestern (1 p.m. ET) and Milwaukee (6 p.m. ET) on Saturday.

ARMY (4-3, 0-0 Patriot League)
- The Black Knights took a quick break from tournament play as they hosted cross-town rival Marist on Tuesday night. Army came away with a 3-0 victory, to continue its trend of defeating opponents in three sets this season.
- The senior class has truly been a force with the top five point producers in the Class of 2017.
- Carolyn Bockrath is first on the team in points per set at 3.84. She averages 3.05 kills per set and has a hitting percentage of .452 to lead the team.
- Amber Clay, Vanessa Wesley, Rachel Gearon and Jaden Pickell have all posted over 2.70 points per set so far this season.
- Nikki Lum and Haven Bethune control Army's offense and have shared the role of setter during their sophomore year. Lum dishes out 6.60 assists per set as Bethune has turned out 4.94, respectively.
- Freshman Ana Oglivie is the team's main libero and leads the Patriot League in service aces with 0.53 per set.

DePAUL (2-3, 0-0 BIG EAST)
- The Blue Demons enter their home tournament riding a two-match winning streak. DePaul defeated Idaho and UIC last weekend, both by scores of 3-1.
- Army and DePaul have only met once before which was back in 1985. The Blue Demons came away with the victory also in Chicago.
- DePaul's players to watch are Brittany Maxwell (3.68 kills per set), Claire Anderson (2.95), Caitlyn Coffey (2.63) and Myah Reed (2.58). Coffey also leads the team in hitting percentage at .429.
- Maxwell is first on the team in blocks per set (0.53) and service aces per set (0.42), while Katie Dolan boasts a 9.29 assists per set average.

NORTHWESTERN (5-1, 0-0 BIG 10)
- The Wildcats enter the weekend with an impressive 5-1 mark and their only loss coming from LSU in five sets.
- Northwestern has earned wins over South Florida (3-1), Arkansas-Pine Bluff (3-0), South Carolina (3-1), Duke (3-0) and North Carolina Wilmington (3-0).
- The Wildcats boast a 14.5 kill per set average over their opponents' 10.2. They also lead opponents in assists per set (13.5–9.4), aces per set (1.5–0.8) and blocks per set (2.1–1.8).
- Individually, Symone Abbott (4.55) and Nia Robinson (4.09) lead the team in points per set. Taylor Tashima dishes out 11.82 assists per set, while Gabrielle Hazen posts a 1.36 blocks per set average and has a team-leading hitting percentage of .427.
- It will be the first meeting between Army and Northwestern.

MILWAUKEE (5-2, 0-0 Horizon League)
- The Panthers will be Army's last opponent of the weekend and it will be the first time they face the Black Knights in program history.
- Milwaukee enters with a 5-2 record and has posted victories over Idaho State (3-2), Northern Illinois (3-0), Fairfield (3-2), Samford (3-0) and Loyola Chicago (3-0).
- Caitlin Schultz and Bridget Wallenberger each average over 3.00 kills per set for the Panthers, while Jess Kalous leads the team with a .467 hitting percentage.
- On the defensive side of the ball, Mykie Olsen posts 3.81 digs per set and Wallenberger has 1.07 blocks per set.
