Army Topped by Navy in Hard-Fought Meet

WEST POINT, N.Y. – In a hard-fought meet, the Army West Point gymnastics team fell 402.900-391.700 to Navy Saturday in the annual Star Meet presented by USAA.

ARMY HIGHLIGHTS AND MEET NOTES
- Elliott Herman and Seth Cannon were first and second on the floor exercise.
- Herman posted a 13.950, while Cannon had a 13.800.
- Ryan Wilson placed second on the vault with a 14.050.
- Nick McAfee was the runner-up on the parallel bars after turning out a 13.300 for his routine.
- On the high bar Nathan Goff led Army with a 13.750 mark.
- Army and Navy tied on vault (69.450), but the Mids took home the most points on the other apparatuses.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Black Knights began the meet on the pommel horse. Goff was the team's top scorer with a 12.800 to tie for fourth.
- Matthew Martin followed tying his career-high mark of 12.750.
- Army caught up on points on the floor exercise with strong showings by Herman and Cannon who went one-two.
- Herman turned in a 13.950, while Cannon posted a 13.800.
- Cole Casanova followed with a 13.600 along with McAfee and Erik Del Cid (13.100).
- Wilson was the first gymnast on either team to record a score over 14.000 in the meet. He had a 14.050 on vault to lead Army and be second overall.
- Casanova was the next-best on the vault for the Cadets with a 13.950 and was followed by Seth Cannon and Alejandro Tombrink who both earned marks of 13.900.
- Rex Scott had a career-high performance on vault at 13.900.
- The Midshipmen continued to pull away in the final two events.
- McAfee led the Black Knights with a 13.300 to place second overall. Goff followed with a 12.850 and Kiernan Reagan posted a 12.550 to tie his career-high.
- On high bar it was Goff leading the way with a 13.750. Tombrink was the next-best finisher with a 13.100.

- Army will travel to San Antonio, Texas, next weekend for the All-Academy Championships.
