Cadets Top Springfield in Regular Season Finale

WEST POINT, N.Y. – The Army West Point gymnastics team topped Springfield, 393.300 – 387.000, Sunday in its regular season finale. The Black Knights captured for of six events in the victory. Nathan Goff posted a program record (14.450) on floor to lead the Cadets today.

- Army captured the floor exercise (69.200-66.200), pommel horse (63.500-60.150), vault (69.500-68.600) and high bar (66.550-64.500) en route to the win.
- The Black Knights' 69.200 on floor was a program best.
- On the high bar, the Cadets turned out a season-high 66.550 led by Goff (14.050).
- The vault score was 0.100 points off from a season-high on the apparatus.
- Goff turned out a program record 14.450 on the floor exercise to lead all other competitors by over 0.250 points.
- Cole Casanova was second for Army in the event with a 14.100. This mark ranks fourth in Army's records.
- Erik Del Cid continues to climb on the vault and topped his career-high for the second week in a row with a 14.150 to lead Army.
- Nick McAfee tied his career-high 13.800 on the parallel bars.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Black Knights went ahead early due to an impressive showing on floor exercise.
- Goff's 14.450 was first in the event and he was followed by Casanova (14.100) and Seth Cannon (13.950).
- Casanova championed the pommel horse with a 13.050. Rex Scott was second for Army with marks of 12.800 as Goff (12.700) and Matt Martin (12.600) also doing well.
- McAfee's 13.200 on still rings was a team best for the day, while Elliott Herman (12.900) and Taka Giese (12.550) were Army's other top two scorers.
- On vault it was Del Cid (14.150), Cannon (14.050) and Casanova (14.000) who led the Black Knights with 14.000 or higher marks.
- McAfee won the parallel bars with his 13.800 score. Goff was close behind with a 13.350.
- Goff championed the high bar for his second first-place finish on the apparatus in 2018.
- Casanova recorded a 13.750 and Darrel Yamamura a 13.450 which were both career-highs.
- Casanova was second in the All-Around to tie his career-high 80.050.

- The Black Knights will be back in action at the ECAC Championships on April 7. The event will be held at Navy in Annapolis, Md.
