WILMINGTON, N.C. – The Army West Point golf team sits in 11th place after two rounds at the Seahawk Intercollegiate.

The Cadets carded scores of 303-310—613 (+37) on the opening day to stand ahead of George Mason, Elon and Columbia. Host UNC Wilmington holds sole possession of first place after it notched marks of 289-279—568 (-8). Michigan State and Campbell follow closely with scores of 283-292—575 (-1) and 291-285—576 (E), respectively.

TOURNAMENT NOTES

Senior Dean Sakata registered marks of 76-74—150 (+6) on the day to lead the Black Knights. The team captain is currently tied for 29th place after two rounds.
Gunnar Doyle was Army's next best finisher, posting a 7-over par with scores of 75-76—151. The sophomore is tied with four other golfers for the 34th spot.
James McKee came in tied for 53rd after the opening day. The rookie carded marks of 75-80—155 (+11).
Justin Williamson and Nick Turner then closed out the Black Knights' scoring. Williamson scratched a 77-80—157 (+13), while Turner earned 78-81—159 (+15).
Competing as an independent was Joseph Gerardi. The first-year tallied scores of 78-85—163 (+19)
The final round will begin Monday with a shotgun start at 9 a.m.
