Black Knights Finish 11th in South Carolina

AIKEN, S.C. – The Army West Point golf team finished the Cleveland Golf Palmetto Intercollegiate on Tuesday and placed 11th overall.

The Black Knights ended up with a team score of 883 (+43) in the three-day event. Army slid up four places on the final day of competition. South Carolina carded an 813 (-27) as a team and was 35 strokes ahead of Virginia and UAB, who took second in the tournament.

TOURNAMENT NOTES

Matt Plunkett was Army's top scorer in the final round at Palmetto Golf Club with a 1-over 71 after carding a few birdies during the turn.
Plunkett improved each day at the tournament and finished with an overall score of 225 (+16)
Team captain Nick Turner carded a 7-over 77 on the final day to finished the tournament with an 10-over score of 220, which was tied with Justin Williamson for the team lead.
Williamson carded a 74 on the final day.
Tom Katsenes finished his tournament with a round of 80 and was plus-18 overall throughout the tournament.
Andrew Watts also showed improvement with a 74 on his final round and ended the invite with a score of 226 (+17)
South Carolina's Will Miles led from the opening round through round three with a 13-under score. He finished with a 2-under 68 today and had a three-day score of 197. He finished nine strokes ahead of second place.

UP NEXT
The Black Knights will remain down South and head to Statesboro, Ga., for the Schenkel Invitational on Friday through Sunday. The event is hosted by Georgia Southern.
