Late Rally Falls Short in Nation's Capital
March 23, 2019 | Women's Lacrosse
WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Army West Point women's lacrosse team pieced together a late rally, but ultimately fell to American, 12-10, on Saturday afternoon in a Patriot League road contest.
The Black Knights (7-3, 0-2 Patriot League) outscored the Eagles (6-4, 1-1 Patriot League), 3-1, in the final 10 minutes, however, American was able to hold on for the win on its home field.
Manuela Cortes had a momentous afternoon as not only did the senior tally her sixth hat trick of the season, but she also became the first cadet program history to record 100 career goals. Samantha Stewart, Caroline Raymond and Jackie Brattan each chipped in with two goals apiece, while Taylor Andrews added one of her own.
