COACH'S CORNER
- Interim head coach Bob Beretta – "That was as tough a day on the softball field this team is going to have. We suffered two heartbreaking losses to a Colgate team that is really finding its stride offensively. I loved the way we fought in both games. To battle back from a 9-5 deficit late in the first game and force extra innings after being down to our final out is a testament to the spirit and character the club has shown all year. We just couldn't shut down Colgate's offense in the first game. They have a very physical team and lead the league in several offensive categories. They just kept coming after us.
- "That's what made Macey's pitching performance so impressive in the second game. Shutting that team out through 5.2 innings is quite an accomplishment. We just couldn't close out the win. We couldn't extend our early 2-0 lead and that really came back to haunt us. We knew this was going to be a hard-fought series coming into the weekend. We need to dig deep within ourselves, regroup and come back with a strong effort tomorrow."
UP NEXT
- Army and Colgate will conclude their series on Sunday with first pitch slated for noon.
