Army's Singles Charge Comes up Short at Bush Cup

SHOAL CREEK, Ala. – The Army West Point golf team competed against Alabama in the 2019 Bush Cup and fell just short in the match play event by an 8-5 score.

MATCH NOTES

The Black Knights took one point out of the morning foursome matches with Gunnar Doyle and Tom Katsenes winning 1-up after winning the 17th hole to break the tie in a tight match and then halving the final hole to win 1-up.
The Crimson Tide had a 3-1 lead following the morning session.
Army was able to earn four points in the afternoon singles matches.
James McKee won 2-up in his match by holding on in the final five holes after earning the lead during the turn.
Sam McGee was tied after 17 holes and was able to par the final hole to win after Davis Shore of Alabama bogeyed the 18th.
Katsenes went up by two strokes late in his match with a birdie on 16 and halved the 17th to earn the win.
Justin Williamson broke a tie with a win on the 15th hole and then birdied the 17th to win 2-and-1.
