September 17, 2019 | Men's Soccer
WEST POINT, N.Y. – A penalty kick goal in the 25th minute by Keenan O'Shea proved to be enough as the Army West Point men's soccer team shutout Mount St. Mary's, 1-0, on Tuesday night at Malek Stadium at Clinton Field.
It was the first clean sheet of the season for the Black Knights (2-1-1), who secured their second home win of the year. O'Shea, who netted the lone goal against the Mountaineers (2-2), tallied a score for the third consecutive contest.
Army held an advantage in both shots (17-8) and corners (11-5), but the Mount St. Mary's goalkeeper limited the Cadets to just one score while making eight saves. The Black Knights' defense performed at a high level as well, containing the Mountaineers to just one shot on goal.
