Heckel Jr. Leads Field After Round One of UConn Invite
October 03, 2021 | Men's Golf
HADLEY, Mass. - Led by John Heckel Jr.'s 4-under 68, the Army West Point golf team sits in second at the UConn Invitational after round one at GreatHorse Golf Course.
The Black Knights are one of only two teams in the field that finished the opening round under par. Army shot a team score of 286 (-2) and sits four strokes behind Rhode Island for the team lead.
TOURNAMENT NOTES
"Another great round of golf for John Heckel Jr.! To play bogey free around this golf course just shows how strong John is with both his physical and mental games. It's really exciting to see Tom Katsenes and Dragon support the teams' efforts with one under par rounds. Joshua Kim and Marshall Daniel played 15 good holes today and those guys are eager to get back out there tomorrow and correct the mistakes made on the other three holes. Solid start for us today; the challenge now is to cleanup as much as we can tomorrow and follow up a good round with another."
