Martin Crowned ECAC Pommel Horse Champion

WEST POINT, N.Y. – Firstie Matthew Martin claimed first-place honors on pommel horse behind a season-high 14.00 and three other Army gymnasts earned top spots on the podium as they led the Black Knights to third place honors at the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) championship Saturday afternoon at Gross Center.
Patrick Armstrong led Army on parallel bars with a career-high 13.4, just .2 off the winner, in taking third-place honors. Jacob Nauman tied for third on vault with a 14.2, just shy of his season best, and Mitchell Monahan rounded out the team's top place winners in posting the fourth best mark on still rings with a season-best 13.30.
Navy claimed the ECAC title scoring a 397.80 followed by William & Mary (392.10), host Army behind a season-high 388.05 and Springfield College (381.75).

FLOOR EXERCISE
- Nauman turned in Army's top placing in this event tying for fifth place with Springfield's Dominic Ramalho as both scored a 13.75. Navy claimed two of the top three places.
POMMEL HORSE
- Martin led the way with a 14.00 in besting the field of 18 individuals with Navy's Dan Clark a distant second (13.3). Zachary Mitchell turned in Army's next highest score (12.75)
STILL RINGS
- Monahan posted a 13.3, just .4 off the winner, Jake Carlson of Navy's 13.7, turning in Army's top score. Armstrong was next as he tied for fifth place (13.15) in joining Monahan on the podium (top six in each event).
VAULT
- Nauman was Army's top performer for the second time, garnering a 14.2. It is the third time this season he has scored in the 14-point range.
PARALLEL BARS
- Armstrong was the Black Knights' leader placing third with a 13.4 just .1 shy of second and .2 off the winner as William & Mary claimed the first two spots.
HIGH BAR
- Mitchell and Armstrong were Army's top two in this event scoring a 12.5 and 12.45, respectively.
