WEST POINT, N.Y. – The U.S. Military Academy named the chain of command for the 4,400-member Corps of Cadets earlier this week in an announcement that detailed cadet leadership positions.
The chain of command features nine cadet-athletes in leadership positions, with the women's track & field, sprint football, men's lacrosse, rabble rousers, men's rugby, women's rugby, men's swimming & diving, baseball and women's tennis programs all represented.
"We are always proud of the leadership abilities exhibited by our cadet-athletes on the fields of friendly strife and are excited that this group has been able to carry that over to the military pillar at West Point," Director of Athletics Mike Buddie said. "These athletes demonstrate excellence and a commitment to winning day in and day out and we are certain that they will play a massive role in the success that we will achieve this coming year."
In order to receive leadership positions, Cadets must apply, receive a nomination and then interview before their eventual appointment by senior staff.
The following cadet-athletes emerged from that process with leadership positions and will assume their duties on Aug. 15, prior to the start of the fall academic session at the Academy.
