Army Starts Season at the Gene Miranda Falcon Invite

USAFA, Colo. – The Army West Point golf team started the 2021-22 season on Friday at the Gene Miranda Falcon Invitational at the Eisenhower Golf Course with the first round of competition.

The Black Knights currently sit in 19th place after a team score of 309 (+21) following the first 18 holes. UC Davis leads the way at 9-under par 279 to start the tournament.

How It Happened
Rookie John Heckel Jr. led the Black Knights in his first action in the Black and Gold with a 3-over par 75 through the first 18 holes. Heckel was even par at the turn after dropping a birdie on the fourth hole and played consistent throughout the day with 14 pars.

Dragon Theam was Army next best golfer on the day with a 5-over par 77.

Army also had a few players competing as individuals on the Silver Course of the Eisenhower Golf Course. Samuel Kim shot a 3-over 75 and sites in a tie for 21st on the leaderboard, while Lake Kim is one stroke behind in a tie for 24th.
