Escudero Named Head Coach of the Rabble Rousers

WEST POINT, N.Y. – Army West Point Director of Athletics Mike Buddie has announced the hiring of Tommy Escudero as the head coach of the Rabble Rousers, the official spirit squad of the Black Knights.

"We are so excited to announce the hiring of Tommy Escudero to be the next leader of our Rabble Rousers," said Buddie. "Tommy stood out to us through the entire hiring process, as his experience and passion for mentoring student-athletes made him the clear choice for this role. I am looking forward to celebrating the future successes of the Rabble Rousers with him and am thrilled for our cadet-athletes, who are sure to benefit from his leadership and expertise."

Escudero boats an impressive resume and has proven his ability to lead a cheer program to success. With three previous head coaching stints, he is sure to make his mark on a program with a history of competing at the National Cheerleading Association Cheer and Dance Championship.

Escudero makes the move to West Point after serving as a special education teacher and varsity cheerleading coach for the Gadsden Independent School District in New Mexico.

Prior to his two-year stint in Gadsden, he served as the Head Spirit Coach at Dodge City Community College in Kansas. During his time with the Conqs, he oversaw a spirit squad that provided support to numerous athletic events, both at home and on the road. Escudero also had a hand in fundraising, recruitment, travel and marketing efforts and was additionally responsible for equipment, inventory and student study hall.

Before relocating to Dodge City, Escudero was a probation officer for the Nueces County Community Supervision and Corrections Department in Corpus Christi, Texas. His time spent in that role coincided with his job as the head coach of Texas A&M University Kingsville's cheer and mascot program, a position that he held for eight seasons.

In his time as a Javelina, Escudero additionally held the roles of Wellness Assistant and Coordinator of Fitness Programs.

Escudero graduated from New Mexico State University, where he was a four-year member of the Aggies' co-ed cheer program. In addition to his bachelor of arts degree, he holds a certification in Cheer and Dance Safety.
