WEST POINT, N.Y. – The Army West Point women's tennis team fell in its battle with the reigning Patriot League Champions, going down 4-2 to Boston University at the Malek Tennis Center on Sunday afternoon.
Cooper Jackson and Paige Herremans were the only Black Knights (19-9, 3-2 PL) to record points, doing so with straight-set wins on courts three and six, respectively.
The Terriers (11-7, 4-0 PL) got to work at building their lead early, using a pair of wins on the top two doubles courts to take a 1-0 lead. At the time the point was awarded, the team of Paola Bou and Justine Dondonay were leading their opponents 6-5 at the third court.
Herremans was first to finish in singles, taking down a Terrier 6-4, 6-1 at the sixth flight to knot up the overall score. The teams then traded results, with BU picking up a win at No. 1 singles and Jackson answering with a 6-3, 6-4 result on court two. From there, Boston cruised to the win, taking home the singles points at the third, second and fourth spots in the lineup to remain undefeated in league play.
